RACKSTAR® is our registered trademark of innovative rack insulation used in chrome-free pre-treatment for plastic electroplating.
Our product RACKSTAR® Hydro Protect also offers reliable protection for the hydrogen (H2) infrastructure with regard to permeation, embrittlement, corrosion and UV protection.
The unique insulation system RACKSTAR® is characterized by a reduced metallization of the frame and enables a better stability of the chrome-free pickling through a low consumption of the oxidizing agent. In addition, the insulation reduces the carry-over of the process chemicals through a low surface tension and at the same time reduces the consumption of copper and nickel anodes and metal sludge in the waste water.
Our coating systems are also free of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated surfactants (PFAS), which means that coatings can also be used after 2025, after the EU Commission's PFAS ban came into force.

- RACKSTAR® Top Coat
This special system offers a sealing for hard chrome-plated components made from trivalent chromium electrolytes. It fills macrocracks with polymers, thus preventing corrosion and also means that nickel plating is not necessary before hard chrome plating.

Furthermore RACKSTAR® is also used to coat electrodes in a wide variety of industries (e.g. fuel cells, hydrogen production, decarbonization), since hydrogen shows corrosive chemical behavior. Also, as a volatile gas, hydrogen tends to form interstitial mixed crystals, which can lead to embrittlement of the pipe systems or pipelines.
